HISTORY
THE BOND
WITH OUR ROOTS
WITH OUR ROOTS
It was thanks to Don Mariano Escribano de la Torre, a Cavalry General, that Iñigo and his siblings developed a deep passion for horses from an early age. And it was their parents—especially Paloma Escribano, their mother—who instilled in them a love for wine that runs through their veins.
With the Peñafiel Castle as a silent witness, this story unfolds—a tale of family tradition that began in 1986 and now rises again to be shared with the world.
IMPROVEMENT
TRADITION, INNOVATION & SUSTAINABILITY
Paloma Escribano, heir to a long winemaking tradition and one of the first female entrepreneurs in the Ribera del Duero wine sector, built her reputation on a commitment to exceptional quality. She was a visionary in innovation, biodynamics, sustainability, and respect for nature. After years at the helm of the winery, the time has come for a new generation to take over.
WINERY VIRTUS SINCE 2013
In 2012, Iñigo López de la Osa Escribano, alongside his wife Francesca Franco and with the support of their entire family, revitalized the project with the dream and vision of honoring and expanding the legacy of their ancestors. The expansion and significant technological investment in the winery’s facilities have marked the rebirth of Virtus, positioning it among the finest wines in Spain.
THE NEXT GENERATION & THE FUTURE
THE PATH TO EXCELLENCE
Our mission is to craft the finest Ribera del Duero wine, bridging past and future. A new corporate identity marks a bold step forward, ushering Virtus into the 21st century.
